Time 10:36 am, August 2, 2016

COX Automotive UK has appointed Ray Sommerville as non-executive director to help drive business growth across all of its brands.

Cox Automotive brands include Manheim, Motors.co.uk, NextGear Capital UK, Dealer Auction and Movex.

With more than 25 years in the sector, Sommerville was most recently chief executive of Perrys, where he helped to grow the dealer group over a 14-year period, more than doubling its turnover and delivering a pre-tax profit of £11 million.

Sommerville was honoured with Car Dealer magazine’s ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award in 2013. He also received a Special Recognition Award from the National Franchised Dealers Association in 2015.

He said: ‘I’m really looking forward to working with the fantastic brands within the group. It is a great opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with a connected business that is uniquely positioned in providing automotive solutions right around the vehicle lifecycle.’

Michael Buxton, CEO of Cox Automotive UK and Manheim UK, added: ‘I’m delighted that Ray will be working with us and am confident that all of our brands will be able to benefit from the wisdom he brings from his significant industry experience.’
