Healey: £71m investment to reopen tungsten mine is ‘backing British industry’
John Healey has said government investment in a tungsten mine in Devon will help bolster Britain’s defence and nuclear industries.
The Hemerdon tungsten and tin mine in Devon will receive up to £71m from the National Wealth Fund to help restart operations at the mine on the outskirts of Plymouth.
The government said it will have the right to ringfence 50% of production for use in Britain, while the chancellor said it means Britain tapping into one of the world’s largest deposit of the mineral, which is also used in steel, electronics and aerospace industries.
Energy complaints handled by ombudsman jump 16% amid cost pressures
Energy complaints taken on by the industry ombudsman surged by 16% in the first half of 2026 as billing concerns disputes soared amid pressures on household finances, the latest figures have shown.
The Energy Ombudsman said it accepted 46,532 cases in the six months to the end of June, up from 40,068 a year earlier and marking the first half-year rise in complaints since 2023.
The data shows billing disputes made up the majority – 58% – of complaints in the first half and were 15% higher in total than a year ago, at 27,006.
Lamborghini’s Temerario Tricolore celebrates Italian heritage
Lamborghini has produced its first Tricolore supercar since its Gallardo-based model was revealed over a decade ago.
The new Temerario Tricolore continues a long line of supercars to bear the Italian flag, and is a model designed by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile design house alongside the Ad Personam department which specialises in custom and one-off cars.
The Temerario uses the same two-tone design as the Gallardo LP 550-2 Tricolore, with a Blue Marinus Shiny lower section with a Bianco Monocerus upper. The Tricolore theme is continued inside, too, with red contrast stitching and Lamborghini’s trademark hexagonal motif used throughout.

The FTSE 100 closed higher on Tuesday as oil prices fell and investors geared up for Wednesday’s double bill of earnings from Nvidia and US inflation data.
The FTSE 100 Index closed up 31.84 points, 0.3%, at 10,886.16. The FTSE 250 ended up 138.57 points, 0.6%, at 24,856.05, and the AIM All-Share closed up 1.44 points, 0.2%, at 815.48.
The pound traded at 1.3632 dollars on Tuesday afternoon, down from 1.3639 dollars at the equities close on Monday. Against the euro, sterling eased to 1.1683 euros from 1.1689 euros.
Five more arrests following horrific A66 crash that killed seven
Five more people have been arrested following investigations into events surrounding the crash on the A66 in which two police officers and five people in a Volkswagen Passat died, police have said.
It brings the total of arrests to 17 following the horrific crash near Middlesbrough in the early hours of Saturday.
On Tuesday, Cleveland Police said it had arrested five more people with the assistance of the National Crime Agency and the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit. The force said they were a boy aged 16, an 18-year-old and a man of 21, all on suspicion of participating in an organised crime group; a 55-year-old on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 23-year-old on suspicion of making threats to kill.

Country music star Dolly Parton died after a ‘brief battle with cancer’, her publicist said.
In a statement to media outlets, her publicist Marcel Pariseau said: ‘After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.’
The singer, 80, was best known for her genre-defining hits including 9 To 5, I Will Always Love You and Jolene.
