A MULTI-million-pound car dealership in Hampshire is on the road to success after being built by a leading construction contractor.
The West Midlands-based MCS Group was appointed by Hendy Group to deliver its £9 million new Honda, Kia and Mazda showroom at Villeneuve Way, Eastleigh. The company led the £6.3 million construction contract for the new dealerships on the site of the town’s former magistrates’ court.
Hendy Group’s nearby site in Leigh Road has been refurbished and is now a FordStore – believed to be the largest in Europe.
Developed through a joint initiative with Eastleigh Borough Council, the Honda, Kia and Mazda dealership has created jobs for 18 new service advisors, vehicle technicians and sales executives.
Great success
The state-of-the-art new showroom has space for 27 new cars, 120 used cars and features a 20-bay workshop. There are solar panels on the roof and electric charge points to meet demand from drivers switching to hybrid and electric cars.
Alan Shadbolt, group commercial director at Warwickshire-based MCS Group, said: ‘We have completed more than 300 car dealerships across the UK but this was the first time we had worked alongside Hendy Group. We wish the Hendy Group great success in Eastleigh.’
Hendy Group director of systems and resources John Hendy said: ‘We’re delighted with our three new state-of-the-art dealerships which provide superb customer facilities but are also providing valuable employment. This investment in new facilities for our franchised partners is a key part of our overall plans.’
The 124,000 sq ft site has a ground-floor main building area, including workshop and dealerships, of 33,000 sq ft. Facilities include new car showrooms for each brand and parts storage areas.
There are office and maintenance facilities on the first floor. A newly-built used cars sales facility is adjacent to the showrooms, while to the rear there is a service yard with an external car wash and valet bay.
Hendy Group currently has 12 franchises in 25 locations and employs more than 1,000 people in Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Devon.
