EVER wondered which three cars Michael Owen would have in his dream garage?
Andrew North, managing director of North Yorkshire-based sports, 4×4 and supercar specialist Alexanders Prestige, found out exactly that when he took the England footballing legend out for a spin in a BMW i8.
Owen, who had previously never driven an electric-powered car, paid the i8 a range of compliments, including ‘it’s got a nice little noise’ and ‘it feels sporty’, and was pretty shocked by the fact it was powered by a souped-up Mini engine and electric motor.
When North asked: ‘Out of all the sports cars you’ve had over the past, how do you think this would compare?’ Owen replied: ‘Oh, this compares favourably. It looks sporty and you’ve got the calm, cool influence of the electric side of things. But when you put it into the sport side it almost turns into an animal – it sounds like an animal as well and it’s certainly got the acceleration.’
