Time 1:18 pm, February 17, 2014

robertDEALER Group Vertu is to open an Infiniti Centre in Newcastle later this year.

The new centre, located at Silverlink Retail Park in Newcastle, will cover the areas of Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teesside, and will create 25 new jobs.

Vertu says redevelopment work on the site, which was formerly a Honda dealership, is set to begin imminently.

Robert Forrester, Vertu’s CEO, said: ‘We are extremely excited to be the company which is bringing Infiniti to this region. It will be a growing brand in the UK that will introduce a wealth of cutting-edge products over the next few years.

‘Next year, the Infiniti Q30 will be manufactured just down the road in Sunderland, meaning we will have another car brand both produced and sold in the region, which is fantastic news for the North East.’

Forrester added the past 12 months have been extremely successful for the company, saying it created 103 jobs in the North East alone. The Infiniti announcement sees Vertu’s network grow to 107 dealerships and represent 20 brands.

Infiniti regional director, Steve Oliver, added: ‘This agreement represents yet another new Infiniti centre that will be opening, with many more to follow across the UK over the next few years.

‘A centre operating in this important area will help generate awareness of the brand and build on our ever-growing customer base.’
