Warranty First has launched a redesigned repair plan portfolio as it looks to offer dealers a more tailored approach.
The firm says its new range has been rebuilt to reflect changes in the UK vehicle parc, separating cover according to vehicle and fuel type.
The portfolio has been split into five families including Journey for petrol and diesel cars and LCVs, Drive for hybrids and Charge for EVs.
Drivers can also choose Ride for motorbikes and Tour for motorhomes and campervans.
For petrol and diesel vehicles, Journey is available in three tiers, with age and mileage determining the level of cover.
Hybrid vehicles are covered separately through Drive, with Drive+ designed for HEV, PHEV and MHEV models.
Drive covers the hybrid drivetrain, regenerative braking and hybrid transmission, while Drive+ also covers the high-voltage battery and electric drive motor on vehicles up to 10 years old or 100,000 miles.
For EVs, Charge covers components including drive motors, charging systems, power delivery and electrical systems. There is also the option of Charge+, which extends cover to the high-voltage battery, traction motor and power delivery for qualifying vehicles.
Leo Nelson, director and chief marketing officer at Warranty First, said: ‘The used vehicle parc has changed significantly but much of the warranty and repair plan market is still based on products that were created for a very different profile of stock.
‘Different vehicles present different risks. A battery electric vehicle should not simply be treated as a petrol or diesel car with an additional component list. The same applies to hybrids, commercial vehicles, motorbikes and leisure vehicles.’
Warranty First says the new structure is intended to simplify product selection for dealers, with fuel type determining the product family and age and mileage determining the tier.
It comes after the firm was also announced as a sponsor of two categories at the 2026 Used Car Awards.
