New Chinese car maker AION has announced one of the longest new car warranties in the UK, as competition hots up in this once dominated area of car sales.
The company announced that its warranty will give consumers greater peace of mind with an eight-year or 100,000-mile cover on all new cars it sells.
For many years, Kia has lead the market with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty as standard. Toyota also offered a very strong scheme, with owners able to obtain a warranty for up to 10 years if they maintained the servicing schedule through an authorised Toyota dealership.
The new scheme from AION matches Peugeot’s ‘Relax’ warranty at eight years or 100,000-miles, which is exclusively for its 100% electric vehicles.
Other Chinese brands, Jaecoo, Omoda and Chery, all currently offer a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty.
AION says its warranty comes as part of it’s AION Great 8 Promise, which includes the eight-year warranty, eight years of servicing, and breakdown and MOT cover for the same period. It has estimated this will save owners £2,900.
Jon Wakefield, managing director of AION Auto UK, said: ‘There is lots of noise around Chinese cars at the moment, and it can be confusing for buyers to know who to trust.
‘We are driving a new standard as we launch the AION V to customers, and a key part of that is complete transparency around the AION Great 8 Promise, including our warranty.
‘With AION, eight-year cover really does mean eight years. There will be no nasty surprises for our customers, and if any remedial work is needed, the parts are already in the country to get them back on the road as soon as possible.’
