Former Peugeot boss Linda Jackson has joined Hendy Group in a major coup for the automotive retailer.
Jackson, who retired as Peugeot’s global CEO earlier this year, has signed up as a non-executive director at Hendy, following a ‘challenging trading period’ for the firm.
The south coast-based outfit recently posted pre-tax losses of almost £20m, in accounts that were filed more than a month late with Companies House.
It was also recently announced that CEO Duncan McPhee would be leaving to take up a role elsewhere but bosses will be hoping Jackson can bring invaluable experience to the board.
Jackson spent 20 years in numerous senior executive management roles for Stellantis brands and will now l work to maximise operational efficiency and drive sustainable growth as part of the Hendy board.
In her new position, she will sit alongside industry legend Daksh Gupta, who is Hendy’s non-executive chairman, as well as CEO Paul Hendy and CFO, Martin Reay.
Commenting on the addition of Jackson, Gupta said: ‘On behalf of the entire team at Hendy, I am delighted to welcome Linda to the board.
‘Linda is one of the most respected figures in Europe’s automotive sector, and her wealth of experience will be a great asset for the business.
‘Her appointment adds further depth and breadth to our Board, and we very much look forward to working with her.
‘I am confident her deep knowledge of the sector will add significant value to helping shape the future strategy of the Group.’
Jackson herself added: ‘It is with great pleasure that I join the Hendy Board; it is an excellent opportunity to use my experience for supporting and building the future of the Hendy Group in challenging but exciting times.’
Hendy has recently been adding brands and sites to its portfolio, now representing 22 different marques across 44 sales and aftersales locations across the south coast of England.
In the last year alone it has signed up with the likes of Geely, BYD, Omoda, Jaecoo and Chery, which bosses are hoping will help to turn the tide in their favour.
CEO Paul Hendy, said: ‘Linda will be an invaluable addition to our senior team, helping us define our commercial strategy, deliver our transformation ambitions and shape our relationships with new and existing partner OEM brands.
‘The experience our board bring is key to ensuring the Group can fulfil its potential and build on our current momentum.’
Jackson’s appointment was confirmed via Companies House this morning (Jun 8).
