A former Aldi site is set to serve as a very different kind of supermarket after being transformed into a state-of-the-art collection centre for the family-run Hilton Garage.
The used car supermarket group has recently ploughed major investment into the site and is now preparing to start welcoming customers.
Ahead of the official opening, the dealership has been giving customers a sneak peak at what they can expect from the facility, which is located just across the road from its existing main site in Derby.
Writing on LinkedIn, director George Manning said the former supermarket had undergone a complete refit in order to bring the ‘supercar experience’ to the buyers of all budgets.
The project had been completed in six months without outside help, with the business using artificial intelligence to keep costs down.
Manning said: ‘Hilton Garage is continuing in its growth. Shortly we will be opening our collection centre just across the road from our main site.
‘It was an ex Aldi supermarket that has undergone a refit to give our collecting customers that wow feeling.
‘What makes it even more special is this whole project was undertaken in six months with no outside help, it was done leveraging artificial intelligence at significantly less cost than comparative projects, it’s something I’m very proud of doing by myself.
‘I don’t think I have seen any other supermarket bringing something like this to the table that is primarily about just serving the customer a top class experience.
‘We want to bring the supercar experience to our fantastic customers regardless of value. They are parting with hard earned money in difficult times and so they should feel that special feeling just like you do when you get the first keys to your new house.
‘Separating collections from our sales business will allow us to work towards our target of 24,000 cars a year sold from one location in the next two years.’
The new facility will separate vehicle collections from the dealer’s sales operation, allowing the main site to focus more heavily on selling cars.
It comes after the family-run business announced a 214% rise in profits in its most recent accounts, published in November of last year.
The firm also posted a TikTok offering an early glimpse at its new site, which can be viewed below:
