It’s ‘important’ that the Jeep brand remains under Stellantis ownership in Europe for the foreseeable future.
That’s according to Jeep’s European boss, Fabio Catone, who explained that having the Stellantis backing helps the firm grow as a brand, allowing it to introduce new models such as the Compass, Wagoneer and Recon SUVs.
Stellantis was founded in 2021 and describes itself as an automotive ‘constellation’, operating 14 car brands across Europe and the United States. In December 2024, the company’s founder and former CEO, Carlos Tavares, left the business over a clash with the board of directors and was replaced in June 2025 by Antonio Filosa.
However, recent reports suggest that due to slow sales, Filosa is assessing the ‘long-term viability’ of all of the Stellantis-owned brands, which could mean cutting back on certain manufacturers under the corporation.
Speaking at the Brussels Motor Show, Catone told Car Dealer: ‘Stellantis is an opportunity for Jeep as it allows us to expand our vehicle range. Between 2023 and this year, we’ve launched the likes of the Avenger, Compass and Recon SUV and want to introduce more models moving forward.’
He added: ‘Stellantis is important for the Jeep brand in Europe, because without the backing, Jeep would not be able to have this expansive range of new models. Jeep is a strong brand globally, and has strong regional routes, so it’s a win-win situation for us to continue into the future.’
The new Jeep Compass is available to order now, and will be offered with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains.
