‘We need more 508s’

Time 4:21 pm, May 17, 2011

508-ukPEUGEOT has revealed that it will need to adjust its sales estimates for the 508 after recent high demand for the new car.

Despite being on sale to the public for only one week, the 508 has already attracted more than 1,700 orders.

‘Our initial sales estimate was 6,000 for this year,’ said Andrew Didlick, Peugeot’s director of communications.  ‘But we will have to adjust this to keep up with demand.’

Approximately 80 per cent of the 508’s order book is made up of fleet sales – just five per cent shy of Peugeot’s initial predictions for the car.

‘Due to new product such as the 3008 and RCZ, the Peugeot brand is in a rejuvenation phase. This has no doubt helped interest in the 508. The brand is really changing.’

On what would be the new sales estimate, Didlick was evasive. ‘6,500, perhaps? 7,000? We don’t know just yet.’
