Jaguar Land Rover records strong half-year sales

JAG_F-TYPE V8 SPREMIUM car maker Jaguar Land Rover has revealed it sold 210,190 vehicles during the first six months of 2013 – an increase of 14 per cent on the same period last year.

The firm recorded a strong half-year performance in all regions with Asia Pacific up 26 per cent, China and the UK 16 per cent, overseas regions 18 per cent, while the US saw a 13 per cent rise.

China has seen Jaguar sales surge towards 8,000 units, meanwhile sales in the US rose by 59 per cent, recording the best June sales performance since 2006.


Jaguar alone sold 37,636 vehicles in the first six months of 2013, up 29 per cent. This reflects the impact of the all-new Jaguar F-Type, which has sold almost 3,000 units since launch and sales of XF.

Meanwhile, Land Rover half-year sales were up by 11 per cent, selling 172,554 vehicles in the first six months of 2013. r.

In June, Land Rover sold 27,165 vehicles – a two per cent increase.The Freelander 2 was a strong performer with sales up 13 per cent and the Discovery 4 up nine per cent.


Jaguar Land Rover Group sales operations director, Phil Popham, said: ‘It is very encouraging to see both our Jaguar and Land Rover brands delivering strong sales performances across our 178 markets. New model introductions have been incredibly well received with the all-new Range Rover retailing more than 22,000 units since launch.’

He added: ‘The F-Type which received a rapturous reception from media during its global launch last month is off to an excellent start with new customers and will go on sale in China this month.’
