The family-owned dealer group completed its acquisition of the business today from Pendragon Plc for an undisclosed sum.

Marshall has represented Honda for 19 years and this new addition brings the group’s total number of Honda businesses to eight.

The group’s chief executive, Daksh Gupta, said: ‘We are delighted to have acquired this business from Pendragon and to be extending our Honda partnership. This Harrogate business is in a great territory which fits well with our existing, neighbouring Honda businesses in York, Scarborough and Hull, making one, large contiguous territory.

‘It also furthers our stated strategy to build strong relationships with our manufacturer brand partners and to grow nationally with scalable businesses, as we have done in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Cumbria and Lancashire over the last two years.’

Marshall acquired its existing three Honda businesses in Yorkshire at the beginning of 2009 and the two Leicestershire dealerships in March 2010.

Gupta added: ‘We have a very strong partnership with Honda which will be strengthened by this acquisition and we are very grateful to Honda for their support throughout this process. I have already had the pleasure meeting a number of our new colleagues who have all transferred to Marshall and I look forward to welcoming them all to the Marshall family.’
