Nissan celebrates 10 years of Qashqai success

Time 12:02 pm, February 13, 2017

NISSAN is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Qashqai, which has been a huge sales success.

In recognition of the crossover SUV’s achievements, Nissan has released a special video that showcases everything the car has achieved in the past 10 years, as well as offering a hint as to what the future of the model might be.

Since the Qashqai was launched in February 2007, 2.3 million of them have been sold in Europe and 3.3 million globally, despite Nissan’s belief that there have been 21 cars launched as direct rivals.

Nissan says that 45,000 jobs in Europe are supported by the Qashqai, with one of the vehicles rolling off the production line in Sunderland every 62 seconds.

The Qashqai is on sale in 99 countries, 19 of which have voted it Car of the Year. Across its five model variants, the car has won a total of 81 major awards since being launched.

Nissan has boasted of the meticulous care it takes in building the Qashqai. There have been 75,000 continuous quality assurance tests carried out by engineers on the model. Among them, the audio system was played at full volume for 600 days to make sure the sound quality did not deteriorate over time.

The brand claims that the Qashqai was the first crossover and has been a dominating force in that market segment. The second generation took just 21 months to sell 500,000 models – faster than any other British-built car.

It revealed that the best-selling Qashqai model has the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The vehicle is two-wheel drive and has a six-speed manual gearbox. The most popular configuration is the N-Connecta grade, finished in Pearlescent Black.
