Peugeot unveils 508 RXH

Time 6:03 am, July 13, 2011

508-rxh-2PEUGEOT is taking its much applauded 508 SW into the estate-come-SUV market with the new 508 RXH.

The French firm has taken the lead from the Volvo XC70 and Audi’s A6 allroad in giving their 508 RXH a different look to differentiate it from its 508 SW origins, and will enter the niche estate car off-road market.

So the RXH sits higher and wider than the SW, and has distinctive LED lights which give an ‘impression of three vertical ‘lion claws’ on each side of its ‘floating’ grille’.

The car also features different colours and luxurious materials, Open & Go Keyless system, electric front seats, head up display, 18″ wheels, and a panoramic glass roof.

But it’s the engine and drive-train which Peugeot says makes the RXH a unique proposition.

Equipped with a 2.0-litre HDi HYbrid4 drive train – 200 bhp, four-wheel drive and maximum torque of 450 Nm – the 508 RXH will not only be able to ‘adapt to all uses’ but also brings new technology to the segment.

The newcomer offers a 100 per cent electric mode and a combined cycle figure of 67.2 mpg, with emissions of 109 g/km of CO2.

The 508 RXH will be unveiled as a world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2011, and will be on sale in Spring 2012.
