LOOKERS is to build flagship Jaguar and Volvo dealerships in Glasgow, giving a jobs boost to the area.
The multi-million-pound development will cover almost five acres and be located at Hillington Park, fronting junction 25 of the M8.
With permission for the two showrooms secured, construction is earmarked to get under way by the end of this year with a grand opening in mid-2017, creating up to 100 jobs.
The dealerships will be managed and operated by Lookers’ Taggarts Motor Group division in Scotland.
Lookers franchise director Gordon Haining said: ‘Glasgow and Scotland have long been part of Lookers’ success and we are delighted to make further significant investments which help to support our long-term growth in the region.
‘To demonstrate our commitment to leadership and excellence in the market, these new, state-of-the-art facilities will showcase the Jaguar and Volvo brands in stunning, spacious surroundings designed to transform the customer experience.’
The site was acquired for Lookers by property and planning consultants Rapleys. Paul Mather, a partner at the firm, said: ‘We are delighted to have successfully secured the site to assist in the onward expansion of Lookers’ dealership portfolio.
‘This transaction demonstrates the continued ambitions of the group and that of their manufacturer partners, further cementing junction 25’s credentials as a premium brand automotive destination.’
