Despite offering a completely different product range Chevrolet dealers are used to, the Korean firm thinks it has a strong offering which would appeal.

‘SsangYong has much to offer dealers looking to add a new value franchise, the difference being that we’re a niche SUV/4×4 specialist and not chasing high volumes or ever higher price points,’ said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.

‘We think dealers used to selling Chevrolet will appreciate the Korean quality and reliability of the SsangYong product, as well as our straightforward, no nonsense approach to business.

‘The last two years have been spent building the foundations of our UK dealer network, and with several new models in the pipeline, we are now looking to improve the professionalism of the network, while also adding new locations.’

SsangYong has open points in England, Scotland and Wales including: Aberdeen, Borders, Cambridge, Chester, Greater Manchester, Leicester, Liverpool, London & South East, Luton, Mid & North Wales, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Reading, Sheffield, Teesside and Watford.

‘We have already met several Chevy dealers, and warmly welcome approaches from anyone else,’ added Williams.

As a spokesperson revealed to Car Dealer last week, Chevrolet has spoken to all of its UK dealer network and a plan is being created for the future.

Around 70 per cent of the network operate as dual Vauxhall and Chevrolet dealers while roughly 30 per cent are solus.
