Tesco opens Autocentres

Time 12:51 pm, April 5, 2011

tesco-autocentresSUPERMARKET Tesco has launched Tesco Autocentres, a servicing set up, alongside its foray into used car sales.

Tescoautocentres.com hails itself as the ‘UK’s largest independent group of centrally controlled garages’, dealing with all aspects of car service, MOTs and repair work.

It’s bound to get dealers’ backs up as Tesco promises its prices will be 30 per cent lower, with all parts and work carried out coming with a 12-month guarantee.

The centres will even collect customers’ cars from home or work, and return it to them once the work is finished, washed and vacuumed.

The firm is running the service with National Service Network – part of the Innovation Group PLC – which means Tesco has access to more than 1,000 garages across the UK.

It was unknown whether Tesco would launch its own servicing set-up, and this website launch has shown its hand. The news will worry dealers already concerned about what the supermarket giant’s entry to the used car market means to them.
