3c8eb4d4-8c9e-4eae-ac24-cd2c3b84ffa6A LOW mileage Volvo 340GL with just one owner generated a large amount of interest last week and fulfilled expectations when it sold for an impressive £5,250 at auction.

The Swedish car was referred to as a ‘time-warp’ after doing only 132 miles since it was first purchased in 1987. The car looked almost brand new with the original paper floor mats still in place.

The only damage was slight and happened when the owner hit a bollard with less than 100 miles on the clock.

Soon after, with his confidence knocked, he parked the 340GL in a garage where it would stay for almost 27 years.

The Volvo 340GL wasn’t the only low mileage car to do well at Anglia Car Auctions’ Classic Car Sale. A 1992 Renault 5 Campus with just 202 miles went for £3,570.

A 1968 Triumph TR5 P1 barn find was offered with no reserve and achieved a sale of £15,225 and an Austin 10 Tourer project car which has been dry stored for 40 years also manage £6,510, proving that low mileage and low ownership cars will sell for a premium.

Overall, the initial results show a staggering £800,000 was made on the lots that sold at the Anglia Car Auctions Classic Sale where an estimated 1,700 enthusiasts attended.

The top seller of the weekend was a 1966 Mercedes 230SL Automatic that went for £50,400. Close behind was a 1985 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible at £46,200 and a 1967 Jaguar S-Type at £25,725.
