PETER Rask is no longer the managing director of Volvo Cars UK, Car Dealer has been exclusively told.
A source told us that Rask – who became Volvo UK’s managing director in 2008 – has been relieved of his position, and Volvo UK’s sales director Nick Connor has replaced him temporarily.
Our source also told us that forthcoming Volvos will have interiors which are far more simple: ‘They will be based around the iPad in terms of style, simplicity and user friendliness.’
Our informant also revealed that a new hatchback Volvo could be coming to the UK. Called the V30, the new hatchback is designed to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf and will showcase Volvo’s new ‘simple’ design strategy.
A spokesperson from Volvo said: ‘Peter has left the business completely to pursue other interests outside of the business, and Nick Connor is acting managing director until a permanent appointment is made.
‘We cannot comment on a V30 coming to the UK, but what we would say is that a five-door hatchback is a logical progression for us in the c-segment.’
