A Hendy Skoda dealership in Wiltshire is set to close ‘imminently’ after the Czech brand decided to sever ties with the South Coast dealer group.
Skoda has announced it is to ‘part ways with the Hendy Group’, resulting in the closure of a showroom and workshop at Old Sarum Retail Park in Salisbury.
The Salisbury Journal reports that the Skoda operation will be wound down before being replaced by Renault and Dacia at the same location.
The site is also home to Hendy’s Nissan dealership and opposite to its Hyundai operation in the town.
The closure will leave Skoda customers in Salisbury needing to travel to either Southampton or Winchester for their nearest franchise dealership – both of which are around 25 miles away.
Hendy has not not announced whether any jobs will be lost as a result of the change or whether staff will be kept on to represent the new brands.
Car Dealer has approached Hendy for comment.
Even after losing Skoda, Hendy will still boast a handsome portfolio of dealer partners, including Abarth, BYD, Chery, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Geely Honda and Hyundai.
The firm also represents Jaecoo, Jaguar, Kia, Lotus, Land Rover, Mazda and Nissan, as well as Omoda, Peugeot, Renault, Dacia, Alpine and Vauxhall.
In its most recent set of accounts, the dealer group posted an ‘extremely disappointing’ £18.1m loss before tax.
