Company car CO2 trend

Time 8:28 am, November 20, 2008

company car co2 trendCUTTING CO2 is a priority for 9 out of 10 company car drivers.

Fleet experts Leasedrive Velo Group discovered CO2 emissions will influence the decision of 87 per cent of drivers.

This shows how important it is for dealers to ensure staff are fully informed about CO2 emissions. It will become the key decider for half of all car sales in the UK.

Roddy Graham, commercial director at Leasedrive Velo Group, observed drovers are ‘willing to trade down next time to a company car with lower CO2 emissions.’

Of the drivers surveyed, 76 per cent currently drive a diesel car, 23 per cent a petrol car and 1 per cent a hybrid.

For their next car, the company asked what drivers will choose:

•    68 per cent diesel
•    19 per cent petrol
•    10 per cent hybrid.
•    2 per cent biofuel
•    1 per cent electric

Leasedrive Velo has a special GreenFleet section on its website. Here, the group highlights the environmental policies of its preferred suppliers – which could be significant for larger dealer groups supplying the firm.
