PORSCHE buyers across the country can now go to Silverstone and receive driving tuitions and a high performance on-track experience.
The company’s new Driving Experience Centre at the British Grand Prix circuit has just opened.
It really is quite a jewel in the crown of Porsche Cars GB. The 10.2 hectare site is situated, literally, right next to the Silverstone circuit. It is described as a ‘world class training facility’.
The scale is amazing. There’s a brand new building that, from above, looks like a keyhole’, Porsche assures us. This is the heart of the centre. But there is also a purpose-built, sinuous 3.1km high-speed test track. This is not part of Silverstone GP circuit – it’s Porsche’s own private track!
It can be split into four different areas, or connected to form one long handling circuit. All have been designed to specifically exploit the particular characteristics of Porsches. Next year, a membership scheme will start, providing exclusive access, offers and events.
It is this sort of activity that Porsche dealers will now be able to take part in. it’s a tremendous facility to entertain new and prospective customers, and Porsche is sure to be exploiting it to the fullest.
Porsche first started using Silverstone back in the 1970s, to train up owners of the monstrous 911 Turbo. Since then, the association has evolved to the point that, last year alone, over 7500 owners took part in some form of Porsche-Silverstone event.
