Arnold Clark has revealed the six Scottish dealerships that will become the first locations in its network to represent new Chery-owned brand Lepas.
The sites in Linwood, Glasgow South Street, Greenock, Edinburgh Seafield, Aberdeen and Perth will open on September 1.
Arnold Clark announced earlier this year that Lepas would become the group’s 36th manufacturer partner as the Chinese-owned brand prepares to enter the UK market.
Lepas is owned by global automotive group Chery, strengthening Arnold Clark’s relationship with the manufacturer following the rollout of Omoda and Jaecoo across its network over the past two years.
The Chinese carmaker has launched a ‘Lepas Founders Club’ ahead of customer deliveries of its first model, the L8.
The first 500 customers to place an order using a fully refundable £99 deposit can receive up to £1,000 off their new car, a three-year service plan worth £759 and a handover gift box worth £35.
Roch Starrs, group brand director at Arnold Clark, said the retailer was confident Lepas would build on the success of Omoda and Jaecoo.
‘Our customers have responded incredibly well to the arrival of Chery brands Omoda and Jaecoo, and we’re confident Lepas will prove equally popular with drivers looking for stylish, technology-focused vehicles that offer outstanding value,’ he said.
‘We’re looking forward to welcoming customers into our new Lepas sites and introducing them to everything the brand has to offer.’
The L8 SUV rivals cars including the BYD Seal U and Kia Sportage. Two more SUVs, L6 and L4, will be revealed later this year.
The Arnold Clark sites are part of Lepas’s plan to have a network of 90 dealers by the end of 2027, as reported by Car Dealer.
In an interview with this publication, Lepas UK boss Ray Wang said the brand won’t be chasing sales volumes like Jaecoo and Omoda. Instead, Lepas will focus on attracting customers looking for a more premium experience.
Arnold Clark has been heavily investing in Chinese franchises this year.
Earlier this month, it opened five more Leapmotor showrooms and two new Geely sites.
