Thousands of employees at Arnold Clark are set to be offered free health screenings after the dealer group signed a new partnership with a medical diagnostics company.

The Car Dealer Top 100 leader, which employs around 11,600 people across 200 UK locations, will give staff with more than two years’ service access to the voluntary programme.

Testing sessions are due to begin at Arnold Clark premises from October as part of a new three-year-agreement with EDX Medical Group.

Blood samples taken from participants will be analysed using EDX Medical’s biomarker testing panels, which cover more than 220 disease conditions.

The screening is designed to identify risk and early signs of conditions including cancer, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders, alongside wider general health checks.

Results will be confidential to individual employees and will not be shared with Arnold Clark.

The dealer group says the move is part of a wider drive to support its staff with bosses expecting a a high level of participation among eligible employees.

Arnold Clark Group CEO Russell Borrie said the company was ‘wholeheartedly encouraging’ employees to take advantage of the programme.

He said: ‘At Arnold Clark, we care about the wellbeing of our employees and this is just one of a number of opportunities we provide to help them take care of their physical and mental health.

‘We believe that there will be a lot of interest and enthusiasm for this programme and we are wholeheartedly encouraging employees to take advantage of this programme.

‘Arnold Clark Group was one of the first companies to host prostate cancer testing sessions for male employees earlier this year as part of the Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative, which is being delivered by EDX Medical.

‘We were delighted with the professionalism of that service and that gave us every confidence to work with EDX Medical again to broaden our offer of health and wellbeing screening for our employees.’

Professor Sir Chris Evans, founder of EDX Medical, said the testing has potential benefits for both staff and employers.

He said: ‘We are delighted to enter into this agreement with the Arnold Clark Group to help look after the health of its highly valued employees. It is a very significant endorsement of our science, technologies and logistical capability as an expert medical diagnostics company.

‘A healthy workforce provides great benefits to both employees and employers. We have designed a unique range of biomarker combinations to offer what we regard as the most advanced and comprehensive service in terms of diagnostic power and price-competitiveness.

‘Employeehealth screening is growing in popularity. Employees gain insights into their own health status and appreciate employers looking after them while employers are taking the appropriate steps to improve the lives of their employees and reduce time lost to illness.’
