Chinese van brand Farizon has delivered its first V7E electric van to a UK customer as it begins rolling out the model across Britain.
The first vehicle has been handed over by dealer CPD Farizon North East to County Durham-based vehicle hire specialist Shire Link.
Shire Link, which has been operating for more than 45 years, said it selected the V7E after comparing it with rival electric vans including the Ford E-Transit and Maxus eDeliver 7.
The company said the van’s range, payload and value for money were key reasons behind the purchase.
The 67kWh V7E will become the first fully electric van in Shire Link’s rental fleet and is expected to cover between 15,000 and 20,000 miles a year.
Matt Magee, managing director at Shire Link, said the business plans to expand its electric van offering over time as it replaces diesel vehicles.
He said: ‘This is our first fully electric van, and we see it as the starting point for expanding our EV offering.
‘Over time, we aim to introduce more fully electric vehicles to gradually replace our existing diesel fleet.’
The V7E was launched in the UK at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April and is available with either a 50kWh or 67kWh battery.
Farizon claims the medium van offers class-leading figures, including up to 204 miles of WLTP range, a payload of up to 1,338kg and a load volume of 6.95 cubic metres.
It also has a loading height of 500mm and can recharge from 20% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes.
Prices for the Farizon V7E start from £28,000 before delivery charges, VAT, the Plug-in Van Grant, Vehicle Excise Duty and first registration fee.
