Mazda’s global president and CEO has completed a special tour of Europe, which included a stop-off at Hendy Group’s dealership in Tunbridge Wells.

During the tour, Masahiro Moro connected with teams in the UK, German and Spain, and was accompanied by Martijn Ten Brink, CEO Mazda Europe.

The UK is Mazda’s second-largest European market, and Moro-san’s visit included an ‘in-person town hall’ with managers across the Mazda UK business at the firm’s Dartford HQ, and Hendy Tunbridge Wells.

During the visit, Moro-San met with Hendy Group, CEO, Paul Hendy, the fifth-generation of the Hendy family to lead the business.

‘It was a pleasure to welcome Masahiro Moro to our Tunbridge Wells dealership and share more about Hendy’s Mazda journey,’ said Paul Hendy. ‘His visit demonstrates the importance Mazda places on its dealer partners and the value of strong relationships across the network.’

Hendy added: ‘As a family-run business, we understand the importance of long-term partnerships and we have proudly represented Mazda since 2008.

‘We were delighted to showcase our new Tunbridge Wells dealership, highlight the dedication of our colleagues and discuss the exciting opportunities ahead for both our businesses as Mazda continues to expand its electrified vehicle range.’

Hendy has three Mazda showrooms in its portfolio, and since 2008 it has sold over 17,000 cars.

The Japanese carmaker said another focus of the trip was for Moro-san to see the ‘strength and sustainability of the Mazda dealer network in the UK’.

Mazda Motors UK MD Jeremy Thomson said: ‘As the sector transitions to new technologies, faces complex operating challenges and exciting opportunities, our dealer networks remain one of our most important strategic assets.

‘We may not always be the largest partner for many dealer groups, but we always seek to be the most trusted partner and deliver long-term business success.’
