I'm taking the black one...

WITH the latest issue safely winging it’s way to the printers (at last), I’m heading off – on a two-wheeled road trip!

Every year, my good friend Mike Askew – esteemed Car Dealer page designer and former editor of now-defunct national consumer car mag Test Drive – and I, saddle up and head for the hills, well Scotland, on our bikes.

We’re Long Way Round wannabes, but without the guts and time to head around the world, so instead load up our BMW GS Adventures and head of on, er, an adventure.

Today we’ll be en route to Newcastle, on Sunday and Monday we’ll be enjoying the delights of Scotland, heading back down to Newcastle on Tuesday before arriving home to an inbox full of emails, no doubt, on Wednesday.

Apologies the route is a bit lacking in detail – that’s mainly because I’ve got absolutely no idea where on earth we’re going. Mike’s come up with the route and booked the hotels, while I’ve buggered about getting the mag to the printers.

So where we end up will be as much of a surprise to me as it is to you!

I plan on taking my new toy – a birthday present from the wife – with me: A Flip Video camera, and will hopefully record some short clips on the road.

If you’re bored you can come back and check them out over the next few days. That is of course if the hotels we’re staying in have WiFi…

I’ll also be keeping my twitter up-to-date at www.twitter.com/cardealered – so check it out for pics.
