21.08.09: Bangers4BEN MKII booming!

Time 9:13 am, August 21, 2009

bangers4benlogoSAT in that pub back in January on a wet, gloomy winter’s evening, the Car Dealer team could never have imagined how big a beast Bangers4BEN would become.

What started out as four blokes wanting to get away for the weekend and do something a bit different, turned into a charity challenge that rasied £1,600 for BEN.

Now, just eight months later, we’re a week into the launch of a SECOND Bangers4BEN challenge and have filled every single place on the trip.

Ok, so we might still be waiting for a couple of forms to arrive, but as of this morning we are acutally over-subscribed for Bangers4BEN MKII.

We’ve signed up teams from main dealerships, independent showrooms and motor trade suppliers – even three UK car manufacturers will be joining us on our adventure – and all within days of the magazine highlighting the trip hitting dealers.

Each team will be looking for a car, which they can pay no more than £250 for, that will be able to take their team of two from BEN’s Ascot HQ to Inverness, onto John O’Groats and to Berwick-upon-Tweed, and then back down to Brands Hatch for a few celebratory laps.

BUYING WISELY

The end game is to sell all the cars in a BCA auction and hand over the cash to BEN. If the competitors buy wisely, and ‘only’ double their money on their cars, we’ll have raised £10,000.

But knowing just how competitive the motor trade can be, I think there’s a good chance we could raise a lot more.

I’m currently working with BEN to try and increase the number of teams we can accept – it would be madness to turn down willing competitors who want to raise money for a charity that very much needs our help at the moment, so I’ll let you know if we can as soon as I find out.

And if you can’t spare the time out of the office, but still want to help, I could really do with a comfortable, sporty car to get me to Scotland and back (!) for £250 – I’ll happily brand it with your company’s logos and the like, just as long as we can raise as much money for BEN when we sell it at the end!

I’m sure I’ll get grief from the other competitiors for pleading for help in my blog, but then needs must!

I look forward to hearing from you – just ping me an email by clicking here!
