Our appeal in the local paper

I HAVE to admit, we were taken a bit by surprise with Bangers4BEN MKII. We just didn’t realise how popular it was.

Suffice to say filling the first 20 places in five days was not something we expected.

The events team at BEN has been busy ringing around hotels to sort out more places and we’ve managed to arrange another 10.

So, if you missed out in the first wave make sure you get your entry in asap. We’ve got a number of teams on the reserve list who’ll get first refusal, but if you’re quick you could be in luck.

Looks like we could be raising a huge amount of money for BEN – especially if we all buy the right cars.

Talking of which, I managed to wangle an appeal story in the local paper. The News in Portsmouth ran a small piece about our challenge on page 16 on Friday in which I asked for some help finding a car.

Turns out they’re a helpful bunch on the south coast as we’ve been inundated with calls. We sorted through them and I’m going to see/possibly pick up our car tomorrow.

Getting it sorted early gives us some time to get it, er, fettled. Obviously, in the spirit of the event I can’t tell you what it is – but needless to say I got a good deal.

Might be worth other entrants thinking about a similar appeal. It could work out well for you too! And before you say it, no, it’s not cheating…

And lastly, a massive thanks to Marshall Group who are entering five, yes five, teams into our challenge. If you think your dealership can beat them, better get your entry forms in asap.

Full details and entry form can be downloaded here.
