Town Centre Automobiles raises £80,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care

A CITROEN dealership in Sunderland has now raised £80,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Town Centre Automobiles has been collecting charitable donations since 2011, through a promotion where £10 from every car it sells is passed onto the charity as well as many other hair raising stunts for the charity.

With a Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Sunderland Royal Hospital, those who have worked hard to fundraise at the dealership can see its positive affect in the local area.

Chris Sopp, dealer principal at Town Centre Automobiles, said: ‘We’ve been fundraising for Macmillan for six years now, and we’ve now reached the really impressive total of £80,000. The money raised would fund a Macmillan nurse for 18 months.

‘We chose Macmillan because everything raised goes into our local area – the North East area – so those who have worked hard to raise the money can see it making a difference.’

He added: ‘We do Coffee Mornings every September, my daughter is away for two week doing The Great Wall of China walk this year to also raise money, and previously we’ve tried many other ways to generate more money for this great cause.’
