HENDY’S new Kia showroom in Portsmouth has been officially opened by Kia Motors (UK) Ltd president and CEO Paul Philpott.
The boss of Kia in the UK said: ‘I am delighted that Hendy is growing its business with Kia UK. It shows a real commitment to our brand, especially alongside its two other sites in Eastleigh and Tunbridge Wells.
‘The dealership itself looks really inviting as it now provides exclusive Kia representation with our new red cube dealership look and increased showroom size.
‘Hendy really is a great partner of ours. We’ve grown together since 2006 and we’re really looking forward to working with the group in a new increased capacity now this dealership is operational and complete.’
Hendy Group chief executive Paul Hendy said he was delighted to welcome Philpott to officially open the new facilities.
‘The new showroom offers Kia customers the very latest in showroom experiences and we are thrilled that Paul has been able to see first-hand our Portsmouth Kia operation and our investment here for the future,’ said Hendy.
‘Portsmouth is an extremely important location for the group and this investment ensures we can offer customers the very best experience at an exciting time for Kia.
‘Kia is a highly popular range for buyers in the area, and with some significant new launches this year we are delighted to offer customers the ideal environment in which to see all that Kia has to offer.’
The opening comes at a time when the brand has seen its market share in the UK rise to 3.7 per cent, and the Kia Sportage was one of the top 10 best-selling cars in the UK last month.
The manufacturer says it is on target to sell 92,000 cars this year, with launches in 2017 set to include the all new Kia Stonic and the Kia Stinger – its first car in the fastback sports sedan market, which made its first appearance at a Kia dealership at the opening.
