Korean cars are the fastest sellers in October

Time 9:27 am, November 29, 2018

CAR classifieds website Auto Trader has revealed the quickest selling used cars of last month, with two Korean manufacturers coming out on top.

During October, the top three fastest selling used cars were the 2015 Hyundai Tucson (first), the 2015 Kia Sorento (second), and the 2017 Hyundai i800 (third). All three cars sold in an average of 19 days.

SUVs as a segment were also a popular choice, making up the remaining seven of the top 10.

Name Average Days to Sell
1 2015 Hyundai Tucson SUV Diesel Manual 19
2 2015 Kia Sorento SUV Diesel Automatic 19
3 2017 Hyundai i800 MPV Diesel Automatic 19
4 2015 Renault Kadjar SUV Diesel Manual 19
5 2016 Mazda CX-5 SUV Diesel Manual 20
6 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class SUV Diesel Automatic 20
7 2015 Hyundai i30 Hatchback Diesel Semi-Automatic 20
8 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Class SUV Diesel Automatic 20
9 2016 Audi Q5 SUV Diesel Automatic 21
10 2012 Peugeot 207 Hatchback Petrol Manual 21

Auto Trader’s director of commercial products, Karolina Edwards-Smajda, explained that SUVs ‘are consistently in the top three searches of body types on Auto Trader and have been the fastest selling used car more than any other body type in 2018.’

Edwards-Smajda also recommends 4x4s as a ‘solid investment for retailers looking to maximise profits through fast turning stock.’

Another popular body style was hatchbacks, which sold especially well in the East Midlands, North East, Northern Ireland and the West Midlands. On average, cars like the 2015 Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Volkswagen Polo sold under 35 days.

Fuel wise, despite negative media attention, diesel continues to prosper. Nine out of the top 10 fastest selling used cars were diesel powered.
