Manheim top performance

Time 8:35 am, January 30, 2013

MANHEIM is celebrating – after experiencing its best performing week in 92 years.

During the record-breaking week, which began Monday 7th and ended Friday 11th of January, the firm’s 17 UK auction sites and online sales channels saw over 9,000 vehicles change hands. Manheim’s Bristol, Leeds and Colchester sites even broke the 1,000 vehicle barrier.

The performance isn’t the only remarkable thing – the week also saw a near 60 per cent increase on the number of vehicles that came to auction compared with the same time in 2012. Similarly, the firm’s online channels have also been subject to a bit of a boom.

To date, double the volume of vehicles have been sold online in 2013 against the same period in 2012 – while the number of people logging on to the site increased by 53 per cent, and each sale has seen 30 per cent more online bidders.

‘This is a real testament to the strong year which we’ve had at Manheim and the anticipated results we expect over the coming 12 months,’ said John Bailey, CEO of Manheim. ‘We are on track to sell more than 5,000 additional cars in January 2013 than we did in January 2012.

‘We’re taking this as a positive sign that the market is showing good recovery and growth. Our previous record-breaking week was back in January 2009 and, four years later, we’re delighted to have been able to smash that record.’
