SUZUKI is on track to outstrip projections for 2013, the manufacturer’s UK arm has reported, by increasing sales by a third year-to-date.
In the first five months, 14,081 registrations were recorded – a 33 per cent increase over the same point in 2012. May registration figures were also a third ahead of target at 2,444 cars, giving them a market share of 1.4 per cent.
Suzuki is also currently the second fastest growing mainstream brand in the UK, with the brand’s relatively inexpensive models finding favour with British buyers.
This success is partly due to the VAT free campaigns on the Alto, Splash, Swift and SX4 models, which will be running until the end of June 2013.
The 99g/km VED exempt Alto is currently at 138 per cent year-on-year, and also accounts for 43 per cent of the range volume, followed by the Swift.
The projection for 2012 is to reach at least 28,000 units, which will represent an increase of over 3,100 units over last year. This will be helped by the addition of the all-new SX4 S-Cross model, set to appear in dealer showrooms in the autumn.
