American dealer throws in unusual gift with each truck sale

2012-Ford-F-Series-Truck-02THROWING in a free gift with a car sale can sometimes be the clincher that sweetens the deal for the customer.

But while in the UK this may come in the form of free paint protection or a novelty tax disc holder, in America a car dealer has been giving away a far more interesting present.

Any customer who buys a brand new Ford F-series truck at Lumberton Ford Lincoln, Lumberton, North Carolina, will be given a free gun!

Customers are given a free $350 voucher for a firearm which can be used at Rhudy’s Gun and Pawn in Fayetteville.

Loyal customer Milton Malloy told Time Warner Cable News: ‘I’ve bought three or four vehicles from them, always got a good deal.’

Malloy admitted that this latest sales incentive was all he needed to hand over his hard-earned for a brand new Ford truck.

The dealership’s general manager came up with the idea, but it does also have a political message.

‘We’re giving away a voucher for a gun for any new F series purchase. For any F-350, 250 or 150,’ said sales manager Jim Drost. ‘To support our Second Amendment rights. We’re not promoting gun violence or violence or anything like that. It’s near hunting season we’re just excited to sell a truck and make someone happy.’

But Malloy admitted that while the offer of the free voucher did make him walk into the showroom, he would have bought the truck even if it didn’t come with it.

He said: ‘These are real good people, they do a real good job regardless of that. Coupon or not, I’ll keep coming back.’
