Auction House of the Year – Car Dealer Power Awards 2020

Time 1 year ago

Prices at auction houses have been crazy this year as the industry scrabbles over used car stock.

The auctioneers have had to adapt quickly to the coronavirus crisis as well – taking sales digital and changing their processes to keep the used car supply flowing.

Manheim – part of the Cox Automotive Group – made it a hat-trick this year, having also won the category last year and in 2018.

The latest issue of Car Dealer Magazine is out now!

It’s a global family-owned business as well as a leading UK provider of integrated products and services for the remarketing sector, and managing director Liam Quegan told us: ‘We’re incredibly proud to have won Auction House of the Year.

‘Manheim has worked tirelessly through this incredibly challenging time to meet the demands of our customers, and also I’m incredibly proud of our team members, who delivered time and time again through this incredibly difficult period for our industry.

‘But overall, the thing that makes me most pleased about this award is that it’s voted for by our customers, so to have won it three years on the bounce is something I’m incredibly proud of.’

He said it was going through one of the most challenging periods it would ever face, adding: ‘To have delivered what we have delivered for our customers, and for our customers to recognise us in this way, is a huge deal for us.’

What is it about Manheim that marks it out from its competitors?

‘I think there are a couple of things,’ said Quegan.

‘Firstly, our people really, really care about what we are delivering. Many of our people have been doing almost different jobs to what they’re used to throughout this Covid epidemic, and their attitude has been outstanding.

‘Also, the values of our company are very, very strong. We’ve tried to do the right thing all the time where we can. It’s not always been easy, but where we have been able to step up I think we’ve done it every single time.

‘The biggest thing for us is we care so much about our customers and delivering for them all the time.’
