Car Dealer nominated

headline-autoCAR Dealer and its writers have been nominated in no fewer than four categories for the headlineauto Awards 2011.

The prestigious awards celebrate outstanding achievements in motoring journalism and communications, and with competitive spirits running high, just being nominated is a big achievement in itself.

Car Dealer Magazine will be vying for top honours in the best business publication category, with first place going to the title that delivers the most consistently high level of editorial to its readers. Last year the magazine was also nominated and finished in third place.


Editorial director, James Baggott, has been nominated for two awards – news writer of the year and editor of the year. The latter of which applauds editors who can best juggle the demands of publishers, readers, and staff. Last year Baggott finished second in editor of the year, narrowly beaten by Phil McNamara and was placed above Chas Hallett.

Meanwhile staff writer, James Batchelor, is up for rising star (business) which recognises up and coming motoring journalists in trade and B2B media.

Batchelor will be up against four other young writers, including Car Dealer columnist Alex Goy.


The winners will be announced in the first week of September.

James – or Batch as he’s known – started at Car Dealer in 2010, first as the work experience boy, eventually becoming editor in 2013. He worked for Auto Express as editor-at-large from 2014 and was the face of Carbuyer’s YouTube reviews. In 2020, he went freelance and now writes for a number of national titles and contributes regularly to Car Dealer. In October 2021 he became Car Dealer's associate editor.
