THE first production BMW i3 has gone on sale at the Bowker BMW showroom in Preston – Lancashire’s first electric dealer.
The beginning stages of the £750,000 transformation of Bowker Motor Group’s Preston site was marked with an exclusive VIP celebration.
The exclusive evening gave customers the opportunity to browse the new showroom and its refurbished surroundings, while taking a look around the new BMW i3.
According to the Lancashire Evening Post, the occasion featured ice sculptures, cocktails and canapés, while the showroom models wore two bespoke dresses designed exclusively by celebrity designer, Vicky Martin.
In May this year, Bowker Preston was announced as one of just 46 outlets that would supply and support BMW’s electric ‘i’ sub-brand and mobility services.
The fully electric i3 megacity and plug-in hybrid i8 have already been confirmed for production and the Bowker dealership has now been labelled as the ‘most advanced BMW dealership in the country’.
Paul Bowker, Bowker Motor Group chief executive, told the local newspaper: ‘Friday was a wonderful evening to enjoy with customers to celebrate the hard work everyone had put in to open the new dealership on time. But it also gave us all a tantalising glimpse of the future – the future of electric motoring and the future of our new customer experience when our newly-modernised and expanded dealership is completed next year.’
