AN INNOVATIVE new scheme designed to promote technical excellence, training and enhanced career development has been launched by Lookers Audi.

The new Lookers Audi Technician Immersion Programme is now being rolled out across all nine dealerships across the UK and Ireland, where 136 skilled technicians are already providing full vehicle support and maintenance to customers of the Audi car brand.

The new programme, which is designed to revolutionise the recruitment and training environment for the next generation of qualified technical specialists, provides selected new recruits with access to specially-designed, comprehensive training programmes delivered by Lookers Audi master technicians which includes a special focus on the exciting new technologies deployed that make Audi one of the most advanced vehicle brands on the market.

After an initial evaluation process, successful recruit technicians complete a paper-based technical assessment and practical test before taking part in the programme, which occurs in a classroom and practical workshop environment.

Lookers Audi Managing Director Steve Dean said the newly-launched scheme was already proving to be a success among the new talent being attracted to the company.

He said: ‘Our Technician Immersion Scheme is unique across the UK and Ireland and we’re very impressed by the calibre of candidates who have engaged with us and who are already providing an unrivalled quality of service and skill to customers of the world class Audi marque.

“This new and unique recruitment and training process provides us with an excellent indication of the capability of those candidates applying and the additional training and up-skilling needed to ensure we can attract and maintain the technical talent in the marketplace.”

Lookers Audi has also introduced special financial incentives and dedicated career development plans to new recruits as part of its concerted focus on raising technical expertise and knowledge and across its network.

A successful new recruit to the programme, Scott Chalmers, said: ‘I’m really thrilled by the training, experience and the focus on my career which Lookers Audi have provided with this exciting new programme.’
