LOOKERS Dacia of Newcastle has announced an exciting new partnership with local rugby league team Newcastle Thunder.
Formerly Gateshead Thunder, the new deal sees the Lookers Dacia logo feature on the team’s home and away shirts, and will see the retailer support the club’s community work, which seeks to increase involvement and engagement with sport in the local area.
Lookers is also joining in the celebrations at this weekend’s Dacia Magic Weekend, which will take place at St James’ Park in Newcastle and will gives fans of rugby league the chance to witness all of the Betfred Super League’s biggest derby matches over one weekend and at one venue.
The marquee event has been held in cities around the country, including Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh, with Newcastle playing host over the past three years.
To help get the party started, Lookers Dacia is sponsoring a pre-event match between Newcastle Thunder and York City Knights at the Thunder’s home stadium at Kingston Park.
Rikki Ledger, general manager at Lookers Dacia Newcastle, said: ‘We are delighted to partner with Newcastle Thunder and we hope the support we can provide will allow them to progress as a team, a sporting institution and in their endeavours as a community-focused club.
‘The Dacia Magic Weekend has fast become a key date in the north-east’s sporting calendar and, as a brand, we are proud to be associated with it.’
Newcastle Thunder managing director Keith Christie said: ‘The support given to us from Lookers Dacia is huge and speaks volumes for Newcastle Thunder’s progression over the last two years.’
