WOLFGANG Hatz has been appointed by Porsche to its board of management it has been announced.
Hatz will head the research and development division of the firm, and takes over responsibilities left by Wolfgang Dürheimer as reported yesterday by Car Dealer.
Matthias Müller, chairman of the executive board of Porsche AG, said: ‘Wolfgang Hatz has many years of experience with Volkswagen, and all the credentials needed to strengthen the position of Weissach as a competence centre for sports car development.’
Hatz started as an engineer and project leader in engine development at BMW and at BMW Motorsport from 1983 until 1989. He then joined Porsche in 1989 and was, among other functions, involved in the development of the Formula 1 engine.
Hatz later joined Opel, Fiat and then the Volkswagen Group in 2001. He begins his new role 1 February 2011.
