The RAC set to launch used car site following Netcars purchase

Time 9:00 am, March 8, 2013

RACTHE RAC looks set to enter the world of used car advertising, as it purchases Netcars.com.

Set to relaunch the site with a new name – RAC Cars – it’ll soon be advertising used cars that are offered through outlets in the firm’s Approved Dealers network.

The RAC estimates that this, combined with those offered through RAC BuySure partners and eventually private sellers, will total around 100,000 listed vehicles. Netcars, which was launched around 10 years ago, currently has just over 74,000 cars advertised.

‘This represents a major new direction for the RAC which will result in a significant improvement to the second-hand vehicle market for our members and other customers,’ said the RAC’s chief executive officer, Chris Woodhouse.

‘We are building on an established online platform but will be bringing a range of added benefits which will give buyers added confidence. The way sellers will market through us to potential buyers will provide real confidence to our members and other customers giving the reassurance and trust expected from the RAC brand.’

RAC Cars launches officially in April, though the site will continue under the Netcars branding until then.
