FIAT Chrysler Automobiles UK has announced the pricing and specification for the all-new Abarth 124 Spider, ahead of its arrival this summer.

With a starting price of £29,565 for the 1.4-litre TJet Manual, Fiat says the new two-seater roadster represents ‘outstanding value for money’.

The Abarth 124 Spider marks the return of the ‘Spider’ badge to the range and is the natural heir of the original model launched in 1972.

Equipped with a powerful four-cylinder 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine, the 2016 car delivers 170bhp and 250Nm of torque. With a top speed of 143 mph the car can go from 0 to 62mph in 6.8 seconds.

Furthermore, a Record Monza exhaust comes as standard, to emphasise the growl of the four-cylinder.

The spider is available with the choice of a six-speed manual or the automatic Sequenziale Sportivo gearbox. The manual features a short-throw, direct lever, while the Sequenziale Sportivo gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddle shift, exploits all of the engine’s torque.

Each car is tested and certified by an Abarth technician who applies a metal plaque to certify the exclusivity of each model.

Gerry Southerington, Abarth brand manager, said: ‘The 124 spider is a new car and a new chapter in the exciting Abarth story. It’s what many of our existing customers have been waiting for, and I am confident we will now welcome a new group of owners into the Abarth family.

‘Great looks, stunning performance and unique equipment will set the 124 spider apart from other roadsters and I am excited about this car’s UK launch.’

Prices for the new 124 Spider start from £29,565 for the 1.4 TJet 170bhp Manual and £31,605 for the 1.4 TJet 170bhp Automatic £31,605.

Five body colours are available, including the special solid Turini 1975 White and Costa Brava 1972 Red, the metallic Isola d’Elba 1974 Blue, Portogallo 1974 Grey and San Marino 1972 Black.
