Surrey dealer Ferrari theft

Time 9:41 am, January 16, 2013

A ONE-OF-A-KIND Ferrari worth around £230,000 has been stolen in a daring robbery from a Surrey Dealership.

The Ferrari 458 Italia was stolen from Sytner’s Maranello Ferrari premises in Egham, Surrey overnight. Stolen overnight on Wednesday last week, police reports suggest that the thieves, equipped with angle grinders, cut their way into the dealership’s secure compound where the supercar was parked.

Around 40 minutes later, a ‘flatbed-like’ vehicle was reversed into the dealership and the Ferrari loaded up – before being covered by a sheet and driven away.

Police say that the black Ferrari – reportedly with a £232,850 price tag – is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, featuring an unusual Italian flag-like stripe down the centre of the bonnet and over the roof. That, combined with a similar motif sewn into the seats, should make the vehicle easy to differentiate.

Detective Constable Chris Ewan from Staines CID suggested that this was no opportunistic theft, and appealed for witnesses.

‘This was clearly a planned and well organised theft,’ he said. ‘I am appealing for anyone who was in the area on Wednesday night and may have seen either the van or the flatbed vehicle to come forward.

‘The stolen Ferrari is a distinctive car so I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen it, perhaps on the back of another vehicle, either in the local area or elsewhere.’

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference number RM/13/153. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
