VALEO Service has announced its hotly anticipated ‘Garage Hero’ 2010 finalists.
The finalists have been named as: Paul Colgrave of the Acliffe Garage in Sheffield, Godfrey Jones of Markhams Garage in Leominster, Herefordshire, Nathan Dent of Forge Auto Engineering Ltd in Aldridge, Walsall, Derek Grover of Grover Motors in Totton, Southampton, Andrew Yull of Towngate Motors in Billingham, Cleveland and Kelvin Martin of Dawlish 2’N’4 Repair Center in Dawlish, Devon.
The part supplier’s ‘Garage Hero’ competition aims to highlight the excellent work done by mechanics in UK independent garages, as well as raise funds for road safety charity, Brake, and motor industry benevolent fund, Ben.
Each of the six finalists has already received a £200 cash prize and will appear in a national fundraising calendar. They will appear in the calendar with the stunning ‘Valeo Garage Hero Girls’ to promote their garage.
The overall winner and Valeo ‘Garage Hero’ will win £1,000.
Valeo Service’s marketing director, Brent Hudson, said: ‘There are hundreds of private independent garages across the UK and this award is designed to recognise the fantastic work they do.
‘We want to highlight the unsung heroes in the industry, who represent the quality, service and commitment that people look for in an independent garage.
‘We have six great guys short listed as finalists this year and it is going to be really tough to pick our ‘Garage Hero’, as each of them is a deserving winner.’
The winner will be announced at the IAAF Industry Conference and Awards Dinner on 2 December 2010.
