They say brand loyalty is becoming a thing of the past among car buyers, but one family is bucking the trend.

Meet the Such family, whose lasting love for Nissan currently sees three generations owning four cars from the Japanese brand.

The dedication is made even more impressive by the fact that the family continues to buy their cars at Crayford & Abbs in Holt, despite the family living around 100 miles away near Bishop’s Stortford.

That means Matthew, Denise and their 27-year-old son Alex make a 200-mile round trip whenever they visit the dealership, as they look to continue a relationship that goes back decades.

Derek is the original Nissan customer in the family and has bought 11 different Nissans from Crayford & Abbs over the years.

His loyalty to the dealership and its owner and director Kevin Abbs has subsequently extended to his daughter and grandson.

The family’s Nissan line-up now includes all three of the brand’s fully electric models currently available in Britain – the new Leaf, Ariya and Micra – alongside Denise’s father Derek’s X-Trail e-Power.

Matthew drives the new Leaf, while Denise owns an Ariya and Alex has recently taken delivery of the new electric Micra, having previously owned two Micras and a Juke.

Denise’s Nissan history includes a Qashqai, X-Trail and second-generation Leaf, while Matthew has previously owned a Juke and Micra, as well as driving Denise’s Leaf.

The family fleet is completed by Derek’s latest X-Trail e-Power, which he uses on regular fishing trips.

Derek said the personal service he had received from Crayford & Abbs had been a major factor in maintaining his loyalty to both the dealership and Nissan.

‘I have always been delighted with the service I have received at Crayford & Abbs and, as my motoring history will confirm, I am a huge fan of the Nissan brand,’ he said.

‘The qualities that have appealed to me over the years are the comfort, reliability, appearance and all-round capability of the cars I have owned.

‘Just as importantly, I’ve always valued the personal service and care I receive from Kevin and the team at Crayford & Abbs.’

Crayford & Abbs director Kevin Abbs says the family had become ‘firm friends’ of the business over the years.

He said: ‘It is wonderful to see Derek and his family become such passionate advocates for Nissan, but what makes this story particularly special for us is the relationship we have built with them over so many years.

‘They are much more than customers – they have become firm friends of Crayford & Abbs.

‘We never take loyalty like this for granted. The fact that Matthew, Denise and Alex are prepared to make a 200-mile round trip to visit us is something everyone here is incredibly proud of.

‘Our business has always been built around looking after people properly and building relationships that last. To see that relationship now extending across three generations of one family is tremendously rewarding.’
