Stellantis has reported stronger vehicle shipments in Europe after demand for new models including the Vauxhall Frontera, Citroen C3 and Fiat Grande Panda helped lift second-quarter volumes.
The automotive giant said shipments across its ‘Enlarged Europe’ region increased by around 39,000 units, or 5%, compared with the same period last year, supported by higher industry demand and strong sales of recently launched vehicles.
The biggest contribution came from the group’s ‘Smart Car’ platform models, with the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross, Vauxhall/Opel Frontera and Fiat Grande Panda together accounting for around 41,000 additional shipments – a 51% increase year-on-year.
The new Jeep Compass also boosted performance, contributing around 8,000 extra shipments during the quarter.
Those gains were partly offset by falling volumes of older B-SUVs, with shipments of the Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600, Vauxhall Mokka and Peugeot 2008 declining by around 28,000 units.
Chinese brand Leapmotor, which Stellantis distributes outside China through its joint venture, also continued to grow in Europe.
Shipments increased by around 25,000 vehicles year-on-year to reach 33,000 units, driven by demand for the T03 city car and B10 SUV.
UK boss Damien Dally recently appeared on the Car Dealer Podcast (below) to discuss that brand’s growth.
Globally, Stellantis shipped an estimated 1.6m vehicles during the second quarter, an increase of 10% compared with a year earlier.
North America delivered the group’s strongest regional performance, with shipments rising by 38% following the launch of refreshed and new models including the Ram 1500 HEMI V8, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Charger SIXPACK.
Meanwhile, shipments fell by 3% in both South America and the Middle East and Africa, while Asia Pacific volumes remained unchanged at 16,000 units.
The figures are preliminary and represent vehicles shipped to dealers, distributors and fleet customers during the three months to June 30, 2026.
