A4 buyers spoilt

Time 5:36 pm, February 29, 2012

AUDI has acknowledged that car buyers might find the huge number of variants in its new A4 range ‘a bit daunting’.

The first drivers will be taking delivery of Audi’s new-generation B-segment best-seller this week and can look forward to driving a car with a fresh new look and much-improved efficiency.

With a reprofiled bonnet and front bumper and a reshaped radiator grille and headlamps, the car has improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

But with the relaunch of the iconic RS4 later this year, there will be 111 variants in the range, which might leave some potential purchasers spoilt for choice.

Audi’s A4 product manager Hannah Fahlgren told Car Dealer this week: ‘We just want to make sure that we are catering for everyone’s needs. It does look a little bit daunting when you look at the price and spec guide and see all the derivatives, but there is a logic behind all the different variants that we have.

‘Because we have customers with such a wide range of needs, we just want to make sure that we’re not being restrictive in the areas where we can be flexible. We just want to give our customers as much choice as possible.

‘We have taken some massive steps forward in terms of efficiency and we are constantly working to make the improvements that our market requires.’

The new A4 range has four different trim levels and nine engines – three petrol and six diesel. Audi expects the best seller to be its TDIe 136PS model.
