Faster Ford parts

Time 9:14 am, July 2, 2008

010708for.jpgFORD parts are now being delivered faster, thanks to new systems introduced by the Daventry distribution team.

Nearly all urgent parts will now be with dealers either the same day, or by 8am the next morning. This is for parts from a stock line of over 120,000.

It’s a win-win situation. Customers get their cars more quickly, dealers can complete servicing and repairs faster (with the cannier outlets using this as an opportunity to save money).

And it is the ‘during the day delivery’ – 3D in Ford-speak – that may be most advantageous here. Using 12 regional depots, parts can be with dealers within a few hours.

‘Ford is the first volume manufacturer offering reliable same-day parts availability to all of its dealers nationwide, says John Cooper, Ford customer service division director. ‘Combine this capability with 8am overnight deliveries from Daventry, and it’s clear that Ford owners will be back on the road quicker.’

Interestingly, the 3D parts distribution centres are run in association with dealers, such as Birmingham’s Bristol Street Motors, Loughborough’s Sandicliffe and Manchester’s QuickCo. They run parts depots that typically stock in excess of 20,000 part lines, significantly more than average. 3D operators provide dealers in their region with at least two daily parts deliveries – one early in the day and one during the afternoon.

‘3D has been a major driver in the growth of our after-sales business,’ said Steve Russell, dealer principal at Ringways Motor Group in South Yorkshire, which took part in a pilot for the 3D programme.

‘We are now the first choice supplier of Ford parts for local independent motor traders.’
